Fast-As-Ya-Like-It Punk Rock

If you know Slick Shoes you know what to expect. Like Pennywise, Slick Shoes have never really changed yet this doesn’t make their albums worse in anyway. If you’re not familiar with Slick Shoes then try to imagine MxPx at the ‘Life In General’ era and mix that with Hangnail’s awesome guitar work.

The second song, ‘East On Tracks’, is a fine example of amazing guitars and tight musicianship. The album is a full 36 minutes of fast, American, Pop/Punk-Rock but the only link to Christianity is the fact it’s on Tooth & Nail (which can be a tenuous link at times) – having said that, their lyrics are generally positive. ‘Burn Out’ was the bands 2nd full length album with later releases being released via Tooth & Nail and, more recently, Side One Dummy.

Considering that at the time of release the band members were aged around 16, this is a very mature album. Definitely worth finding a copy of it, or any of their other albums. On first listen I prefer this to their follow up album, ‘Wake Up Screaming’, but the songs don’t have the same ‘edge’ as their 2002 self-titled release.

Still, I can’t complain at only £2 ($3.99)!
